Why This New York Fashion Week Was Actually the Most Diverse Yet

Inclusion — the word we're using to replace the more commonly used but a bit less accurate "diversity" — is at the forefront of a slew of industries right now: entertainment, beauty, technology, and of course, fashion.

Industry insiders expressed optimism in December when we reported on the state of inclusion for black women in fashion in 2015 and we’re happy to note that progress is indeed being made. The fall 2016 season of New York Fashion Week, which just wrapped, was one of the most inclusive to date, with 31.9% of collections featuring models of color.
